Nicolas Cheng holds a PhD in artistic research from HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg and an MFA from Konstfack. His practice is interwoven with studio-based work, artistic research, long-term collaboration (Conversation Piece) and self-organised exhibitions. He has participated in group exhibitions at institutions such as Die Neue Sammlung, Triennale di Milano, The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD), The Dowse Art Museum and Z33 - House of Contemporary Art, among others. Some of his recent works are included in public collections such as Pinakothek der Moderne, Stedelijk Museum ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Stichting Françoise van den Bosch, among others. Nicolas was artist in residence at the Blumhardt Foundation's inaugural International Residency hosted by Objectspace (2020), Dunedin School of Art Residency (2020) and Fabrica Research Centre (2007-08). Recent publications include a critical craft anthology: "Earth, Wind, Fire, Water" (Arnoldsche Art Publishers, 2020), "World Wide Workshop: The Craft of Noticing" (ArtMonitor, 2019), "Cheongju International Craft Biennale: Craft City Lab" (Beumduk Han Publisher, 2021) and "The Studio 5th Wall" (Konstfack, 2022).
